Appointments to the Parole Board of Canada

March 12, 2014 – Ottawa, Ontario

The following nine appointments to the Parole Board of Canada (PBC) were announced today by the Honourable Steven Blaney, Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness.

Quick Facts

New appointments:

Lori Louhela of Edmonton, Alberta, is appointed as a full-time member in the Prairies region. Ms. Louhela previously held various positions with the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC).

Mike W. Sanford of Ottawa, Ontario, is appointed as a full-time member in the Ontario region. Mr. Sanford was an Inspector with the Ottawa Police Service.

Colleen Zuk of Vancouver, British Columbia, is appointed as a full-time member in the Pacific region. Ms. Zuk retired from the Department of National Defence as a Lieutenant-Commander, and was previously a member of the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada.

Reappointments:

Craig Michael Allan of Warren, Saskatchewan, is reappointed as a full-time member in the Prairies region. He was first appointed in 2009, and previously held various positions with CSC.

William D.P. Aust of Riverview, New Brunswick, is reappointed as a part-time member in the Atlantic region. He was first appointed in 2011. Previous to his appointment, Mr. Aust was a member of the New Brunswick Securities Commission and a senior manager with the Bank of Nova Scotia.

Keith Heming of Winnipeg, Manitoba, is reappointed as a part-time member in the Prairies region. He was first appointed in 2010. Mr. Heming is a lawyer and was Acting Chair of the Board of Revision with the City of Winnipeg prior to joining the PBC.

Douglas M. Hummell of St. Catharines, Ontario, is reappointed as a part-time member in the Ontario region. He was first appointed in 2011. Mr. Hummell is a lawyer who has worked with several law firms in St. Catharines.

Goldie M. Shea of Ottawa, Ontario, is reappointed as a full-time member in the Ontario region. She was first appointed in 2011. Ms. Shea is a lawyer and has held several positions within the federal public service, including Senior Trade Policy Officer with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade Development Canada.

Harvey Silbernagel of Red Deer, Alberta, is reappointed as a full-time member in the Prairies region. He was first appointed in 2009. Mr. Silbernagel had held various positions at CSC.
