Marion Crowe, Executive Director of The First Nations Health Managers Association becomes first Indigenous person to be appointed to the Ottawa Hospital Board of Governors

OTTAWA, ON (June 22, 2017) – The First Nations Health Managers Association (FNHMA) Board of Directors and staff would like to extend congratulations to FNHMA Executive Director, Marion Crowe on being appointed to The Ottawa Hospital Board of Governors on June, 21 2017.

Ms. Crowe, a proud member of the Piapot First Nation in Saskatchewan, joins the Board of Governors as the first and only Indigenous woman, as well as the only person to have a background in First Nations health. She is the founding Executive Director of FNHMA whose hard work and determination has established FNHMA as the leading association in Canada that provides leadership in health management activities by developing and promoting quality standards, practices, research, certification, and professional development to expand capacity for members and First Nations organizations. Her hard work has gained national recognition and has been acknowledged in many different ways including blanket ceremonies, nominations and leadership awards. One of her most recent accomplishments is the 2015 AFOA and Xerox Excellence in Aboriginal Leadership Award.

Members of the Ottawa Hospital Board of Governors are chosen based on their skills and leadership experience, as they are responsible for providing strategic leadership to the Hospital by establishing and regularly reviewing the Vision, Mission and Core Values of the Ottawa Hospital. Ms. Crowe’s personal and professional integrity will surely aid in the governing of the Ottawa Hospital on behalf of the Ottawa community.
