MPs tackle proposed changes to solitary confinement rules as budget watchdog releases new report on veterans’ benefits – iPolitics.ca

When the curtain rises on the Commons Chamber today, the first order of business — which may or may not be disposed of with relative speed — will be the proposed framework for a new tax convention between Canada and Madagascar, which, unusually, was introduced in the Senate last fall and has only now made it onto the House to-do list.

Later this afternoon, MPs will turn their attention back to Public Safety Minister Ralph Goodale’s bid to overhaul the solitary confinement protocols in use within federal correctional facilities following several court decisions that raised questions over the constitutionality of some aspects of the current program.
