The provincial government is determined to move the Ontario Northland Transportation Commission to the Ministry of Transportation from the Ministry of Energy, Northern Development and Mines.
At a news conference Tuesday morning, Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli said the move has the support of all mayors, municipalities, First Nations and management of the ONTC.
“This is going to happen,” Fedeli told media in his Main Street office in North Bay.
The proposal was included in the Doug Ford government’s second fall economic statement and, according to Fedeli, Ontario Northland President and CEO Corina Moore and Unifor Local 103 President Andy Mitchell will improve transportation services in Northern Ontario and help with economic development in the region.
